5/26/2011 Nile cruise/Sonesta Moon Goddess, Edfu Temple, Esna locks, sailing to Luxor, Egyptian BBQ, galabaya party

Breakfast buffet 7:30 am.  Pancakes with honey and syrup, sausage, fruit, mini pastry, orange and grapefruit juice.  Richard also had beans and breakfast potatoes.  Other choices were egg station, cheeses, meats, vegetables, salads.  Laundry from yesterday ready.

EDFU.  Leave ship 8:30 am with Robert as our guide.  We take caleches (horse and carriage) from the ship to Edfu Temple.  The caleche will wait for us in the shaded area while we tour the temple.  Best preserved cult temple in Egypt dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus.

Back in the caleche our driver lets Richard drive.  He does a pretty good job!  We are back on the ship around 10:30 am.  Time for the pool.

Lunch at 1:00 pm is a buffet.  Breaded chicken, chicken with peppers, potatoes, carrots, green beans.  Salad of tomatoes and beets.  Dessert-small tarts of kiwi custard, nut, and coconut.  Coke, water.




Back to the pool again.  Nile life scenery.  Approaching a bridge ship staff had to take down some poles, lights, etc. so we could pass underneath the bridge.

Spend some time on our balcony.  Town of Esna.  Pass through the ESNA LOCKS.  Drinks by the pool-Stella beer, coke.  Sailing to Luxor.  Sunset.

Tonight we are having an EGYPTIAN BBQ dinner on the sun deck at 8:00 pm.  Unfortunately I can't believe this is the one dinner where I didn't write down what we had!  I get to wear the galabaya I bought.  Wine, beer.

The galabaya/Egyptian dress party continues in the lounge bar.  Drinks-beer, coke.  Eileen not with us as having a bit of an upset stomach.  Overnight in Luxor.
