6/2/2011 Sharm El Sheikh/Hilton Fayrouz, diving, beach, pool, dinner at Fares in Old Town

Breakfast buffet.  I have what's my usual-one egg over easy, toast, fruit, mini pastries, orange juice, and coffee.  Drop off some laundry.




At the dive center a list of those diving is posted and Richard has 3* after his name.  It means he's a very experienced diver and he's one of a few out of the list of 50 or so names.  I'm impressed.  He has 50 LE to pay for lunch on the boat.  Today he's on the boat Delphinus going to Rai Mohammed.  He rents a dive computer and also decides to do a 3rd dive.  Divemaster is Adam.  Shark and Yolanda Reefs-very good.




After Richard leaves I decide to spend some time at the beach.  Our hotel has its own section of private beach.  The area of water that you can swim in is limited and roped off due to some recent shark activity.  Richard was only allowed to dive because he had way more than the required number of dives.  This is all due to the shark activity.  It's a safety measure.  While at the beach I use my snorkel gear to see what I can see.  Some black and white fish with yellow fins.  Also some pale yellow and cream colored fish.  Very nice but blazing hot and too sandy for me.  I much prefer the pool which is where I go next.  I also get some ice cream.  A scoop of black and white.  Tasty.  Stop at the super market for some drinks-coke.

Finally Richard is back.  He said he enjoyed himself.  He loves scuba diving.  He has his own gear so he needs to rinse it all.  Towel art again.  Hotel reception will arrange for a taxi to take us to Old Town.







FARES.  Dinner here in Old Town.  Taxi was 70 LE round trip.  We are dropped off at a taxi stand type area, told to return here in 1 1/2 hours.  We walk around taking in the sights.  Lots of shops and places to eat.  At Fares we get a table easily.  It's a large restaurant with plenty of seating.  We have the grilled sea bass with lemon.  It's a whole fish and we're told enough for the 2 of us.  It comes with a variety of breads and spreads.  Salad of chopped tomatoes and cucumber.  Brown rice.  Great service and fantastic food.  And this was plenty of food for both of us.  Cost without tip 207 LE.  Stop at ATM to withdraw 1000 LE.  We walk back to the taxi stand, find our driver, and return to our hotel.
